Vascular surgery is currently carried out at two sites, The Royal Oldham Hospital and Manchester Royal Infirmary.

There are currently differences in how these services are accessed and delivered, which can affect people’s treatment, experience and outcomes.

We are also facing challenges that are common across the NHS, including shortages of specialist staff and ever increasing pressure on hospitals. This means that some of our current facilities and ways of working may not be sustainable in the long term. National standards for care are also changing, so we need to ensure we're ready to meet these.

Because of these things, we believe it is important to review how vascular services are delivered and through this programme of change, we our aim to:

• Improve patient outcomes and safety
• Reduce differences in care between communities
• Ensure services are sustainable for the future
• Provide care as close to home as possible where appropriate, while ensuring specialist treatment is available when needed.

This consultation gives patients, families, staff and the wider general public an opportunity to share their views and help shape how services should be delivered in the future.
