Medical Evidence Review - Split and Torn Earlobes

Get involved with the Split and Torn Earlobes review

Between 22nd September 2025 to 1st November 2025 we asked people to comment on the proposed commissioning statement for the Repair of Split and Torn Earlobes.

They were able to review the proposed commissioning statement that will be considered when the Greater Manchester Procedures of Limited Clinical Value (PLCV) Steering Group meets to review this intervention. Please note, this is not a decision-making group and any recommendation it makes will need to go through NHS Greater Manchester governance process for approval to implement.

The repair of split and torn earlobes refers to surgical procedures to restore its natural appearance and shape of earlobes after a “split” or “cleft” due to a sudden pull or prolonged traction from an earring or repetitive tension on the piercing site.

People were asked to read the plain English version of the medical evidence review before sharing their views.
